Kaleigh Blanchard, LPC-A
Kaleigh is a licensed professional counselor associate supervised by Thad Cox LPC-S serving the greater state of Texas. Having always harbored a strong curiosity about the human experience as well as a desire to make a difference in the lives of others, Kaleigh pursued her B.S in psychology at Michigan State University.
She then continued on to earn her M.A in counseling psychology at Northwestern University where she graduated with academic honors and distinction. As Kaleigh’s client, you can expect to receive compassionate and person-centered care provided in a collaborative manner.
Kaleigh's Approach to Therapy:
Throughout her clinical and academic experience, Kaleigh has understood how necessary trauma-informed care and the pursuit of continued education in the mental health space is. Her additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with a complex trauma focus provides her with an additional modality to effectively and responsibly assist clients in healing from trauma. Kaleigh is particularly interested in working with adults who are experiencing symptoms related to trauma; specifically, relational trauma resulting in early childhood attachment deficits, likely related to an unloving or difficult parent relationship. A client that is experiencing symptoms of trauma may be impacted not just in the way that they relate to others, but to themselves as well---including feelings of being “stuck,” anxious, withdrawn, or having a persistent low self esteem.
Although Kaleigh’s education has been rooted in psychodynamic theory (meaning an exploration and emphasis on how early experiences and other forces out of our awareness may be impacting our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors) she chooses to use an integrative approach including psychodynamic, attachment-focused, cognitive-behavioral techniques, EMDR, humanistic, and person-centered approaches in order to tailor therapeutic services to meet the individual needs of each client. Kaleigh’s primary goal for therapy, however, is that her client’s are able to explore and reconnect with themselves in a space that is safe and free from judgement. By providing unconditional positive regard and encouragement to facilitate a better understanding of self, Kaleigh aims to support her clients in dismantling maladaptive defense structures that may no longer be serving them in order to provide space to find purpose, strength, and meaning.
